On an architectural level, the idea was to emphasise the contrasts between the old and the new, seeking clarity in the architectural language and prioritising integration into the landscape.

In the words of the architect Josep Mº Deulofeu, the purpose of the renovation was always “to adapt to the old building, respecting its structures and integrating the new ones with them to perfection, always keeping the mill as the protagonist and placing it at the centre”.

In 2006 this refurbishment and extension of the Molí del Mig was a finalist in the Girona Region Architecture Prizes, awarded by the Girona branch of the College of Architects of Catalonia.
